Corona Virus update - 2021 School Opening 4th January 2021

On 23rd November the UK Prime Minister’s announced the new three tier system for England.
There have been ongoing discussion with Government Departments for clarification for dance schools via the bodies that represent dance and physical activity.

There have been three main questions (i) 18 year old students, (ii) private lessons for adult individuals/couples in Tier 3, (iii) adult dance classes in Tier 2.

(i) students who were under 18 on 31st August 2020, may continue to attend out of school activities. If you have students at your dance school who are in Year 13 at their educational school and are 18, they may attend your after school dance class – across all tiers.
(ii) In Tier 3, a private dance class, consisting of an individual or a couple (from same household/support bubble) in a dance studio with a dance teacher may take place. The dance teacher must be socially distance at all times and the dance studio/venue covid-secure.
(iii) In Tier 2, adult dance classes can take place providing they are socially distanced and the people attending do not mix socially while at the class or in the venue, which must be covid-secure.

It is essential that dance classes take place in covid-secure venues and are socially distanced in accordance with the guidance provided in the government documents – see links below.

What is Coronavirus/Covid-19?
COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It's caused by a virus called coronavirus.
The symptoms of coronavirus are:
-
a cough
-
a high temperature
-
shortness of breath
-
But these symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness; the symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu.
Do:
-
wash your hands with soap and water often - do this for at least 20 seconds
-
always wash your hands when you get home, into work, or to dance class
-
soap and water is ideal; if this is not available then use hand sanitiser
-
cover your mouth & nose with a tissue or your elbow when you cough or sneeze
-
put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards
-
try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
Don't:
-
touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean
-
attend classes at Janis Anderson School of Dancing if you or your child are showing symptoms of illness, or have been during 48 hours previously
